Stanley Hopkins calls on Holmes for help in investigating the murder of a young secretary to Professor Coram. Nothing was stolen and the secretary had no known enemies. His last words suggested a woman was the killer.

Explanation (spoiler alert)

The Professor was actually a Russian who had betrayed a revolutionary group and the (accidental) killer was his wife who had been looking for documents that would help free a friend.
