Summary: A woman who always veils her face reveals the truth behind the attack from a lion.

A landlady has a lodger, Eugenia Ronder, who always keeps her face veiled because of terrible injuries. When Ronder falls ill, she asks to see Holmes to explain about how she received her injuries.

Explanation (spoiler alert)

Ronder had once been the wife of a circus owner. She had fallen in love with a strongman and planned to kill the owner when they were feeding their lion. They did so but the lion escaped and savaged the woman.
