Summary: A woman takes up a post as a music teacher to a friend of her father but every time she cycles to her work, she is followed by a mysterious man on a bicycle.

Violet Smith is offered a post teaching music by Carruthers, a friend of her father. While he is pleasant enough, he has a friend who is obnoxious towards Smith. Smith cycles to the location every day and she notices that she if being followed by a bearded man on a bicycle. The man does not approach her and, when she tries to meet him, he cycles away. She asks Holmes for help.

Explanation (spoiler alert)

The man was Carruthers who was keeping watch on her to prevent her being abducted by his friend who wished to marry her by force for her inheritance.
